I am a massive fan of Barbie!! I have an overwhelming amount of dolls, but I love and adore each and every one! This blog is dedicated to Mattel's Barbie and their journey of more diverse dolls!
From astronaut to zoologist, there isn't a plastic ceiling Barbie hasn't broken. Today, with over 200 careers and counting, she continues to inspire the limitless potential in every girl.
In celebration of our 60th anniversary and International Women's Day, we proudly honour #MoreRoleModels than ever from around the globe in an effort to inspire more girls.

It is heartwarming to see Barbie branching out into creating more diverse dolls!! Their "New Crew" collection showcases 40 new dolls, 7 body types (curvy, petit, tall, broad etc.), 11 skin tones and a range of 28 hairstyles!!! I remember the first time I saw the adverts of the new fashionista line and it truly brought me joy. Seeing Barbie evolve is truly an incredible sight. From very limited appearances of the doll, to a wide range of looks and skin tones!
For Barbie's 60th Anniversary, they created the #MoreRoleModels Collection!! The special collection shows different female idols that inspire girls and has the same determination and ethos as Barbie! The dolls represent celebrities such as Yara Shahidi (Actress, Model and Activist), Naomi Osaka (Tennis Player), Adwoa Aboah
(Activist & Supermodel) and many more!!!

Founded by Ruth Handler—businesswoman, mom, and pioneer of her time—Barbie has been breaking boundaries and sparking imaginations since her debut. See her journey over the past six decades.
The founder of Barbie, Ruth Handler, saw her daughter's toy choices were limited, she could only play out being a mum or a caregiver. On the other hand, her sons had a range of toys that allowed him to imagine himself as a firefighter, astronaut, doctor and more. This stereotype inspired Ruth to create a doll which would empower girls to have the freedom to become anything they wanted to be.
The Evolution of Barbie is truly empowering as you can see how much determination Barbie has to creating an environment of play, for girls to relate and feel empowered. The great thing about Barbie is its way of change, the brand is always open to more diverse dolls and that's why it has come so far over the past six decades!!
𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓃𝓀 𝓎𝑜𝓊 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝓇𝑒𝒶𝒹𝒾𝓃𝑔!
I wanted to leave you off with this quote from Barbie! "Be a leader. Don't let anyone's actions influence you so much that you forget who you are." I specifically chose this quotation as Barbie's goal has always been to inspire young girls to become anything they want to be! If Ruth listened to the majority of people saying that dolls were silly, we wouldn't have Barbie, and it wouldn't be where it is today!
Thank you so much for reading this blog!! I love Barbie so much so I felt like it was appropriate to talk about their journey as a brand!! If you liked this blog don't forget to follow, like, comment and share!! Comment down below your favourite Barbie Sister!! Mine would probably be Chelsea!!!
But for now, I’ll see you on my next blog post!! 💖💖💖
