The Day Of The Girl 2018

The day of the girl is a very important celebration which is extremely close to my heart, and I wanted to share my passion for girl empowerment on this blog post!!!

This blog is dedicated to the day of the girl. The day of the girl is celebrated on the 11th of October. In 2012, 11th October, it has been marked as the International Day of the Girl - The day aims to highlight and appreciate the needs and challenges girls face. It also promotes girl empowerment.

In today's world, girls are being judged because they get overlooked because of their gender, their looks and appearance, and the stereotypes that pressure them. Because of all these consequences girls face on a daily basis, that is the reason why the day of the girl was invented.

However, I believe that no matter what day of the year, girls should always be appreciated and remembered for the amazing things they achieve. Girl empowerment is extremely crucial because it recognises the issues girls go through as well as making them feel amazing about themselves and reminding them to love themselves!! I know many empowering and inspiring women who are willing to use their time to inspire other girls and women to love themselves.

THE WOMEN WHO INSPIRE ME!!

The women above are only a small amount selected of all the female figures who motivate me and inspire me! The first woman in the photo is Zendaya, Zendaya is a huge aspiration to me, she inspires me to try for the best in my life and never give up on my dreams. The second idol in my picture is Ellen Degeneres, a major idol of mine as well. I love Ellen so much because she is not afraid to help others and I admire how she effortlessly gives back to people in need!!! My next amazing idol is my MUM!! She is a massive inspiration to me because she helps me believe in myself and has always been there for me and she is always willing to make me happy, and make my dreams come true. On the image above their is the legendary woman Oprah Winfrey, who I am extremely inspired by, from the wisdom that she has spread. Another woman who motivates me is Storm Reid, she actually made t-shirts for women to purchase that said "you = amazing" and many other phrases with that structure. I look up to a lot of Youtube Stars, some of my favourite content creator role models are Liza Koshy and Lilly Singh AKA Superwoman. They both inspire me to produce motivating content up on my Youtube channel!!!

There are many incredible campaigns and movements that have been created to show and broadcast females doing outstanding things! One of those campaigns is The Female Lead! The Female Lead is a magazine which showcases women from all different backgrounds, doing amazing things! A particular woman who is featured in the mag is.... AVA DUVERNAY!! Ava DuVernay is best known for impeccable directing skills in the excellent movie A Wrinkle In Time! Starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Storm Reid and Mindy Kaling - An absolutely empowering cast! Ava DuVernay is a film director, producer, screenwriter, film marketer, and film distributor. Ava DuVernay won the directing award in the U.S. dramatic competition at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. She became the first African-American woman to win the award! Definitely, check out the FEMALE LEAD magazines on their website - www.thefemalelead.com - and get inspired by the women you'll find inside!

Zendaya is also a massive idol for women, she has done incredible things for women such as supporting in the Women's March! It is so heartwarming to see such a massive celebrity figure, take time out of their schedule to support and lift other women for what they deserve!! The amount of pressure women had taken on from the racist and sexist messages that came from their president, broke so many women into tears and anger. What Zendaya is trying to show is that women support women, and we get higher by lifting each other up!

Because I am very passionate about #GirlEmpowerment I had to do a video about GIRL POWER!!

I featured some of my close friends to film a video answering two questions:

1. Why do you love being a girl?

2. What is something you would like to change about how girls are perceived as?

These are all the girls who said something truly empowering and inspiring messages in my YouTube video:
